MS is in M’s hand and is evidently the first page of a longer letter. It is annotated ‘scripsit F. v. Mueller’ [written by F.v. Mueller]. It is seemingly unconnected with the specimen label in M’s hand with which it is currently associated: ‘New Guinea | Regarded as new by Dr G. King Sent to him 1892’. The label has been annotated in another hand, ‘Ameranth’, and in yet another hand, ‘handschrift F. v. Mueller’ [handwriting F. v. Mueller].
