Dear Baron Mueller,
It is only fair to you to tell you that I am very dissatisfied […]
Meston's collection of Bellenden Ker [fruits] [bought] for £20.
There were only about [half] a gallon altogether, few of them named, Mr Bailey tells
me most of them were [windfalls], and that no attempt was made to obtain adequate
botanical material […] them. A fair price would be [about] £5. They were got in the
early part of the present year during a private [ex]cursion. As you know nothing of
the circumstances, I think it is only proper you should know how Mr Meston has behaved.
