23rd June 92
Dear Baron Mueller,
I yesterday received your telegram
1
See M to J. Maiden, 22 June 1896 (in this edition as 92-06-22a).
informing me that you had received the necessary Ministerial authority to purchase Mr Meston's collection of fruits &c, and that you have asked Mr Meston to communicate with me direct.
I presume that, at the same time, Mr Meston will furnish me with the fullest information in regard to the specimens.
2
J. Maiden to M, 18 August 1892 (in this edition as 92-08-18a) identifies the collection as from Bellenden Ker. Archibald Meston made a number of trips to the area (Lavarack (2015)), in addition to the 'Government scientific expedition to the Bellenden Ker range' on which he was accompanied by F. M. Bailey (see Meston (1889); Bailey (1889)).
Yours truly
J. H. Maiden.
