Mit dies-wöchentlicher Post, hochgeehreter Herr Professor, sende ich Ihnen für das Gedächtniss-Fest der drei Gelehrter, welches in Altenburg gehalten werden soll, eine Post-Anweisung von £3, welche Summe Ihnen vom Postamt in Weimar wird ausgezahlt werden direct oder auch gütige dortige Anfrage. Ich habe die mir von Altenburg zugekommene Aufforderung, mich bei dieser schönen Feier geldlich zu betheiligen, in meinem Bureau zufällig verlegt, u kann nun nicht erinnern, an wenn der Beitrag geschickt werden sollte. Da Sie aber jedenfalls einen hervorragenden Antheil an dem Feste nehmen werden, wollen Sie auch wohl gütig diese Zahlung vermitteln und gleichzeitig meine innig ausgesprochene Felicitation überbringen! Es ist wirklich erhebend, dass man bei dieser Jubilar-Gelegenheit auch derjenigen längst hingeschiedenen Gelehrten gedankt, welche aus dem Osterlande hervorgingen, und auf solches wissenschaftlichen Glanz geworfen haben!

A celebration to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Naturforschende Gesellschaft des Osterlandes at which three locally-born naturalists were commemorated, the ornithologist Christian Ludwig Brehm, his son the zoologist Alfred Brehm, and the ornithologist Hermann Schlegel (Mitteilungen aus dem Osterlande, vol. 5 (1892), pp. 5-6).

a postal order for £3, which sum will be paid to you at the post office in Weimar directly or also on kind inquiry there. I have accidentally mislaid in my office the request sent to me from Altenburg to participate in this splendid celebration financially and can now not remember to whom the contribution should be sent. Since you , however, at any rate will take a prominent part in the celebration, would you also kindly arrange this payment and at the same time deliver my heartily expressed felicitation! It is really uplifting that on this jubilee occasion even long departed savants are remembered who came out of the east and have cast such scientific lustre on it.
