Je suis très sensible à la distinction que vous m'avez témoignée en m'élisant un des douze members titulaires de l'Académie internationale de Géographie botanique, position dont je suis extrémement fier. Je ferai de mon mieux pour coopérer avec les autres members de cette institution importante au but que nous désirons d'atteindre. Je tiens à honneur de remettre cette année cent francs comme première donation, et je tàcherai de remplir les devoirs spéciaux dont cette nouvelle Académie m'honorera.

I am very conscious of the distinction that you have conferred on me in electing me one of a dozen titular members of the International Academy of Botanical Geography, a position of which I am extremely proud. I shall do my best to co-operate with the other members of that important institution towards the end we wish to achieve. I consider it an honour to send one hundred francs this year as a first donation, and I shall try to fulfil the special duties with which that new Academy will honour me.
