MS found with a specimen of Eucalyptus perriniana (MEL 1611948).
April 27th /92.
Dear Baron,
I enclose two specimens of Eucalypts, both taken from the same tree.
They are taken from a clump of shrubs growing near Hamilton. Hitherto they have born
only broad opposite connate leaves & specimens have from time to time been sent to
you, once by Mr Stephens. Now for the first time I forward you a specimen of the connate
leaved form bearing flowers. The taller branches of the trees have now taken on the
foliage of what I take to be E. viminalis. Would you tell me if the plant of
specifically distinct or is the early fruiting on opposite connate leaves only a
sport of E. viminalis.
