Baron,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 2nd instant,
informing me that, for reasons stated in your letter, the Victorian branch of the
Royal Geographical Society of Australasia has made me an Honorary Member of their
Branch and enclosing a Diploma of membership.

Norman was elected an Honorary Member of the Victorian Branch of the Royal Geographical
Society of Australasia at a meeting of the Council of the Branch held on 23 March
1892, along with Sir Robert Hamilton, Governor of Tasmania, who had presided over
the congress of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science held in
Hobart in January 1892, and Sir William Dawson, the eminent Canadian geologist and
Principal of McGill University, Montreal (Transactions and Proceedings of the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia, Victorian
Branch, vol. 10 (1893), p. 3).
I shall be much obliged by your informing the members that I am exceedingly obliged
to them for the high distinction thus conferred upon me and that I accept it with
much pleasure.
I desire to express to you, Baron, my appreciation of the courteous terms in which
you have communicated to me the Resolution of the members.
