I must thank you specially, dear Mr Wilson, for this new concession,

M to T. Wilson, 23 March 1892, thanked the Government for allowing Minchin and Charles H. French to stay in the Government Botanist's department unless a position was available in another Department. M reiterated his request for the permanent retention of French in M to A. McLean, 7 June 1892.
as it doubtless was brought about much through your influential counsels. My hope is still, that young French will be continued in my establishment altogether in which indeed he was born
