I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter,
informing me, that the hon. the Chief Secretary has been pleased to allow Mess. Minchin
and French to remain Officers of the Gov. Botanist's Department til the end of the
current finance-year, unless some openings should before occur in other Departments,
to which these two members of the present public service could be transferred. Kindly
convey to Mr M'Lean my
extreme gratitude
for this generous act, which is also highly appreciated by the two employees concerned.
