Melbourne,
18/1/92
The honorable A. Maclean, M.L.A.
Chief Secretary &
Sir
I have the honor to solicit, that every consideration may be shown to the Officers, of the Gov. Botanists Department, whose services in that institution are to be discontinued at the end of March, so that these able and specially trained members of the public service may suffer no hardship, but be reengaged in any other branch of the service, so soon as vacancies occur.

See also M to A. McLean, 17 January 1892. On 5 March 1892, the Under Secretary, T. Wilson, minuted: 'Mr L. [i.e. Luehmann] is to be retained — see U.1179'; see M to T. Wilson, 31 January 1892. Under this Wilson added: 'Again 29 Nov/92', probably in relation to M's position needing to be renewed again at that point; see M to T. Wilson, 5 January 1893 (in this edition as 93-01-05a).
I have the honor to be,
Sir, your obedient servant
Ferd. von Mueller.
