In my letter, written two days ago,
1
See M to M. Henley, 5 December 1891.
dear Miss Hedley,
2
M mis-spelled the family name, here and below, but wrote it correctly in other letters.
I forgot to refer to the required "Bamboo-Cane". Now I send by parcel-post a root, just taken up, of the small hardy Chinese Bamboo, but perhaps your worthy father desires, to have the tall "Danubian Reed", , which is much planted about Melbourne. If you have this not already, then I can send easily some roots in a corn-bag by rail; but as you live some distance from the station, I like first to know, whether it is this bamboo-like Reed, which Mr Hedley requires. Let me also kindly know, if, — should I send a telegram, when such roots are sent, — it would reach speedily enough to send at once (in this hot season) for the roots to the train.
With regardful remembrance
your
Ferd. von Mueller.
