This time I only write briefly, dear Dr Dyer, as I am under unusually heavy rural
pressure of departmental work just now, — and yet do not like to miss the weekly mail
for answering your last kind letter. In my private Library not a single copy of any
of
my
works is left now. In the departm. Library here I have now only those single copies
of the “Select plants” into which I wrote notes for the edition following. I will
endeavour, to secure, wherever possible,
second-hand copies
of those editions, not contained in the Kew-Library. But would you be better or
quicker
able, to obtain them from our friend Dr Masters?
He
likely would only require the latest-issued volume, as he not likely has an ambition,
to possess a more extensive Library than required for his particular engagements.
Thus I fancy, that he would willingly transfer any of the former editions to the great
Kew-Establishment, if merely asked
Always regardfully your
Ferd von Mueller.
