Sir,
Adverting to the letter addressed hence to you on the 24th June last,
on the subject of the desirability of promoting rural settlement in the Australian
Alps, and to subsequent correspondence, I have the honor to state that the Department
of Agriculture having been asked if, by the use of any vote under its control, it
could further your idea, the Honorable the Minister has replied in the negative.
