MEL 270075 is a specimen from Maurice Holtze collected in 1883 (collection number 307), with 'Melodorum' struck through on a label, which also identifies it as Uvaria holtzei , the name M used in the description in B83.07.03, where it was noted that fruit was unknown. MEL has N. Holtze specimens of Uvaria holtzei sent as collection 1323, which include flowers, buds and fruit; although the sheets MEL 270069 – MEL 270073 are undated they must include the specimens referred to here. No description of the fruits by M has been found.
1321. New genus for N. W. Austr

This is a very interesting plant, if truly indigenous. I distributed seeds repeatedly, as it is the Solah-plant for pith-hats. Some went to Port Darwin also. So I am eager to learn, whether it could have possibly escaped from cultures.
Kindly try to get the fruit again of the slender plant, comparable so far as the fruit is concerned to . The sending of parcels by post answers admirably
I hope to have some of the new plants very soon in print.
