Dr Bennett
I am glad to say is well and payed us a visit a day or two ago to see the wonderful
Marsupial Mole
kindly sent us by Dr. Stirling of Adelaide.
I think he has taken a new lease of life, for like Sir Alfred Stephens must now be
over 84 years of age.
4
George Bennett, d. 1893. See M to E. Ramsay, 16 August 1891.
5
E. C. Stirling, who first described the animal; see E. Stirling (1889).
6
Bennett was 87 years old at this time; the retired chief justice and legislator Sir
Alfred Stephen was 89.
With many kind regards, believe me, my dear Baron,
yours truly,
Ed. P. Ramsay.
P.S. Of course you have heard all about poor Wilkinsons death.
He will prove a sad loss to all of us, both from a social as well as a scientific
point.
