Let me offer my best felicitation, dear Mr James, to your election into the great Royal Horticult. Society of Britain, a distinction, which you have so well earned by your enthusiastic promotion of the gardening art in N.SW.

The Sydney morning herald , 19 July 1891, p. 8, reported that James, 'on the motion of Baron Mueller', had been elected a member of the Royal Horticultural Society.
