Dear Baron von Mueller,
It was with very great pleasure I received your letter and accompanying portrait by todays mail;
1
Letter not found. See also J. Thomson to M, 18 July 1891.
for these friendly tokens I solicit your kindly acceptance of my most profound gratitude. The portrait is, to me, a most acceptable gift which I shall always look upon with feelings of affection, in memory of the original. I shall at once place it in the hands of a picture framer for mounting and framing so that I may be able to hang it as a cherished ornament upon the walls of my house. It is beautifully executed, and the expression of your countenance is particularly happy; I do not think it could be better.
I am enclosing my own photograph & shall esteem its acceptance by you as an especial privilege.

With very kind regards, dear Baron von Mueller
Very faithfully yours
J. P. Thomson
