Can you throw some light on this, dear Mr Cheeseman, as I can find no record of such a grass in the large new work on Japan-plants by Franchet and Savatier.

The grass about which M is seeking information has not been identified, and it is not certain whether M included a specimen or a printed reference with the letter. The work M had consulted is Franchet & Savatier (1875-9).
