The latest set of Mr Pringle's plants
1
MEL has Pringle's collections from Arizona (1883-4), Texas (1889), ferns from Mexico (1891) and lichens from Mexico (1891).
have just arrived, dear Professor Watson, and I merely now write to acknowledge the receipt of them in a good state of preservation. Just at the eve of the departure of the American mail, it is too late to take out a money-order for the £5, which this set costs, but I will send the payment by the next monthly mail. I had hopes, that Mr Pringle would have ascertained something about the value of the timber and tanbark of the oaks, which grow in the districts through which he passed; but he has hitherto sent me no notes in this respect, which to obtain no great difficulty should exist. I had a very kind letter from the excellent Prof. Goodale at the moment of his leaving Japan.

Letter not found.
So he has perhaps arrived at his home again, when this letter reaches you. Pray give him my kind regards. A second (continuing) lot of woodbooks is under preparation for him. I hope you received for Prof Goodale all rightly as well the wood-implements as the imitation-books.
With regardful remembrance
your Ferd. von Mueller.
