Telegram not found. The text given here is from 'Antarctic exploration, Cost of Nordenskjold's
expedition', Express and telegraph (Adelaide), 18 June 1891, p. 2. The text of the telegram is introduced by 'In Monday's issue it was stated that Sir Thomas Elder's contribution of £5,000 to
the Antarctic expedition of Baron Nordenskjold could still be had if an assurance
were given that the amount of £15,000 would be enough to equip the party thoroughly;
that the Stockholm Academy of Sciences had been so informed by telegram; and that
a reply was daily expected. The honorary secretaries of the Royal Geographical Society
of Australasia, South Australian branch, have received from Baron Sir F. von Mueller
information by telegram that the following reply has been received from Stockholm:-‘.
£15,000 amply sufficient; £5,000 are found here (Stockholm). Please inform me if you
mean to say that £10,000 have been found in Australia.—LEVENSHAUPT.
