My dear Sir
I this day forward by parcels delivery my annual consignment of Victorian Marine Algae and a small parcel for the great and venerable Professor at Lund
3
J. Agardh.
— You will note among the specimens Harv. growing as a parasite upon
4
Fucodium chondrophyllum?
— I do not know that it has ever before been found on any plant except and the remarks made on the subject by Harvey in his Phycologica Australica vol IV. plate ccxiii make this discovery peculiarly interesting.
5
Harvey wrote: 'This little plant abounds wherever grows commonly, and is always strictly parasitical upon that species, being the only known Fucoid which is truly a parasite' (Harvey (1858-63), vol. 4, comments on Plate CCXIII, ).
Believe me to remain
Yours very sincerely
