My dear Baron,
I am greatly obliged to you for your kind letter of yesterdays date
giving me notice of the Birds, Reptiles, & insects from Mt Yule,
and I will gladly go and see them. I often regret that none of the Zoological Collections
made by parties from Victoria or subsidised by our Colony come to the Public Museum.
I am still so weak, & get my strength back so slowly that I am quite out of spirits
& patience.
Yesterday after my second lecture I was so exhausted that I had to go and lie down
before I could go home. Each day however I am a little better & hope soon to be well
enough to tackle my arrears of work, and return thanks to all the kind inquiries during
my nearly three months mostly in bed. My medical attendant protests against my return
to work & lecturing.

Papua New Guinea. Europeans ascended Mt Yule (2,409 m) for the first time in 1891,
during an expedition sponsored by the Victorian Branch of the Royal Geographical Society
of Australasia; see M to A. Cogniaux, 28 March 1891 (in this edition as 91-03-28a). The specimens collected were in Melbourne by March and were displayed for members
of the RGSA on 3 April. See also M to E. Ramsay, April 1891 (in this edition as 91-04-00d).
