Baron Sir F. Von Mueller K.C.MG.
President, Victorian Branch.
Melbourne Victoria.
My dear Baron
I am desired by our Council to convey to you its thanks for your telegrams concerning
Dr Elliott & the "Second in Command",
and generally for the interest you have taken, and the work done by you in this same
connection.

For the Elder Scientific Exploring Expedition, 1891-2. See M to A. Magarey, 31 March 1891
(in this edition as 91-03-31c), and M to A. Magarey, 31 March 1891 (in this edition as 91-03-31d). The doctor was Frederick John Elliott.
It is deemed desirable to obtain (if possible) for "Second" a practical man experienced
in travel in Central Australia, and a qualified Surveyor.
Every endeavour is being made to get the party into the field at an early date. The
camels are ready, & upon the arrival of the Scientific members of the party, an early
start will, we hope, be effected.

See A. Magarey to M, 18 April 1891.
I am Sir
Yours very faithfully
A. T. Magarey
Joint Hon Secretary
