Sir,
I have the honor to state that the Melbourne City Council has pointed out that the
arrangement under which the Royal Park, Melbourne, is held by the present Trustees
is such that they have no funds wherewith to improve and beautify it, and as it is
the desire of the Council that the Park should be so dealt with as to be of greater
use and benefit to the public, has requested that steps may be taken as early as practicable
for the vesting of the entire area of the Park (including that portion which was,
some years ago, used as a "Model Farm") in the Board of Land and Works and the Council
by Crown Grant on the same terms as the other City Parks and Reserves are held.
Will you be good enough to bring this matter under the notice of the Trustees and
favor the Department with an expression of their views on the Council's request.
