Dear Sir
Since receipt of your last letter,
3
Letter not found.
I have not, until a few days ago had an opportunity of going out to the Hanging Rock for a further supply of the " ". I now send you some specimens from various parts of the plant, including some ripe seeds in heads. — It is difficult to procure good sound heads with ripe seed as the heads are generally much injured by caterpillars.
The plant is a shrub or under-shrub sometimes attaining a height of 5 or 6 feet, the flowering branches appear to die back after the seed ripens. All the plants which I have seen are growing amongst the rocks at the foot of the perpendicular face of the Hanging Rock Mountain & thus are sheltered from the Westerly winds.
Wishing you the complements of the season
I remain
Yours faithfully
J. R. Garland
