This whole year, dear Mr Crawford, I have been so overwhelmed with work, as many extra-engagements arose in connection with the Melbourne-Meeting of the Australian Association,

that my correspondence got much into arrear.
The -seeds, so kindly sent by you, did arrive, and I trust you will excuse, that I omitted to acknowledge them. At times I have been quite ill from mental over exertions, and hardly had the strength, to write all the requisite letters. I am not sure now, whether a letter of yours accompanied these seeds.
