None of these specimens has a collection date more precise than 1890 in the list in AVH (accessed 19 February 2022); all are from Wirrabara Forest. However, it is possible to infer a probable date. Gill's house at Wirrabara was auctioned on 9 August as he was 'leaving for Adelaide' (Laura standard (SA), 8 August 1890, p. 2). Record numbers 104 and 106 collected in the south-east of SA, several hundred kilometres from Wirrabara, are dated to 24 and 28 August 1890. It is therefore improbable that the plants here were collected later than very early August, which would enable M to respond by the end of the month.
