Es war mir eine grosse Freude, hochgeehrter Herr Professor, eben von der Eckart-Breymann's Buchhandlung Hr Dr Prahl's Schul- u Excursions Flora u dann auch die kritische Flora Schl. Holst. zu erhalten, zwei wichtige u dauernde Werke, welche eine längst bestehende Lücke in der bot. Litteratur ausfüllen und an deren Ausarbeitung Sie ja so hervorragend mitgewirkt haben. Ich fühle mich ganz verjüngt beim Durchstudieren dieser schönen Werke, denn solche rufen lebhaft in meine Erinnerung zurück, wie ich vor fast einem halben Jahrhundert meine Excursionen im südwestl. Schleswig mit jugendlicher Begeisterung anfing.
Möchte es mir erlaubt sein, Sie wie auch Hr Prof Krause u Hr Dr Prahl zu befragen, ob in einer künftigen Ausgabe die

Dass Sonder's Algen hierher kamen durch Kauf, ist wichtig für ganz Australien, zumal da in diesem Welttheil die Meer-Gewächse am reichsten entwickelt sind.

I feel quite rejuvenated while studying these beautiful works, for they recall lively memories of the time when in youthful enthusiasm I commenced my excursions in south-western Schleswig almost half a century ago.

gmelini as a synonym — lists a number of localities for it, beginning with 'in der Nähe des Försterhauses am Uglei-See (Weber nach Nolte)' [near the forester's house at Lake Uglei (Weber according to Nolte)]. Uglei-See broadly fits the location given in M's remarks on this (as Epipogium gmelinii) in M to R. Fischer-Benzon, 16 December 1887.
That Sonder's algae came here by purchase is important for the whole of Australia, particularly as oceanic plants are most richly developed in this continent.
