MS is an undated sheet in M's hand that in the file follows immediately after M to R. Tate, 26 July 1890. The reference to indicates that it was written after that letter, while the reference to indicates that it was written before M to R. Tate, 30 July 1890 (in this edition as 90-07-30a).

I have written for the Aug. number of the Vict. Naturalist a description of the S.A. micrantheum (M. demissum), having specifically separated it from M. hexandrum.

I found only specimens from Tepper, all without flowers. I have some recollection, that I got also one from you, but am not sure. In the great bulk of additional collections, which used to come in from all parts of Australia, it is not always easy, to find any particular specimen, without very great loss of time. Thus I applied for another specimen of , if you had it. At my age and frail health, I like to keep a copy of the Census complete, so that if I at any moment pass away, a third Census can be published,

as posthumous from me, showing where my work on Australian plants, aided by my Cooperators had ceased. Somehow we here cannot find the S.A. specimen of that Schoenus.
