Yesterday afternoon, dear Mr Macdonald, I had a call from Mr Lindt, who wishes credentials,
and these I have written out, and if you and Colleagues of the Council near to you
will approve of them, you perhaps will be so good to sign.
I wrote them out, so as to prevent delay, Mr L. leaving on Saturday. He further stated,
that monetary help to him, should — according to wishes of some of our colleagues,
— be left to you and myself. So perhaps you will kindly let me know your views on
the subject.
1
Lindt was about to depart for the New Hebrides; see J. Lindt to M, 3 June 1890 (in
this edition as 90-06-03a).
2
See M to A. Macdonald, 5 June 1890, and M to A. Macdonald, 10 June 1890.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
I like much to have a
quiet
talk with you for an hour on various subjects.
Capt Hatton Richards just writes that he will be this day and to morrow in Melbourne.
I will bring him to you at your office.
