Chief Secretary's Office
5 March 90.
Premier's Office
Melbourne 26th Feby 1890
Sir,
The Premier directs me to say that he will be glad if the Honorable the Chief Secretary
will be so good as to grant to employés in his departments, who are also in the Military
Forces, leave of absence for Thursday the 3rd and Wednesday the 9th of April next,
in all cases where compatible with the Public business.
3
To attend the Victorian military forces 'Easter manouvers'; see
Argus, 3 April 1890, p. 8. The leave days were those before and after the gazetted Easter public holiday (Victoria government gazette, 21 March 1879, p. 1087).
It should, however, be distinctly understood that the leave of absence is for military
purposes only.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
E. J. Thomas
Secretary to the Premier.
The Under Secretary
