February 22nd 1890.
Honoured Sir,
I forward you a small parcel containing the leaves and green fruit of our Cork Tree ?

See also T. Weir to M, 8 February 1890.
The ripe fruit is black. I saw the flowers about twenty years ago, they are very small, and white in colour. The tree is a very handsome one, it grows to say between fifty and sixty feet high, and about 2½ feet diameter at the base, the timber is very close in the grain, white in colour, and not very heavy.
This tree has a habitat of about a square mile; I have been watching for the fruit for many years; I am sorry the flowers escaped my notice this season.
I remain yours respectfully.
Thomas Weir.
The Baron Von Mueller,
Melbourne.
