I had some months ago, dear Mr Dyer, sent to me on my request from near the Murchison-River
by post
cuttings
of the two
, which are still under bell-glasses here and with bottom warmth.
If I get them well to root I will send established plants. But to
expedite
matters, I have taken measures, that you receive a trial sending of such cuttings
direct
from W.A. by post. Mr Gamble got from
India cuttings all right from me and I from him. So the
branches will likely travel as far as to you also safely, and I have taken care,
that they do not arrive before May, so as not to get hurt by frost.

The elaboration of Sir Will. MacGregor's alpine plants
took til nearly the beginning of December as a byework, the daily routine engagements
taking up most of my time
So in the
sparehours
of one month the presidential adress had to be written for the Australian Assoc! So I had not even time at last
to correct the proof properly; hence Lord Rosse's name was printed Ross, and several
other inaccuracies and some omissions of names occurred, which all will be mended
in the
volume
.
