Dear Sir
I write to give you very many thanks for the book on Tropical Plants
1
Almost certainly an error for 'extratropical', the most recent edition of which was B88.12.01.
which you so kindly sent and also for your good wishes so kindly expressed. The packet arrived safely together with the flower seeds for which I am grateful
I enclose two specimens, a hibiscus and another like a begonia. The heavy rains & floods have prevented me from collecting lately.
You have, dear Sir, been so kind in giving me names of plants and in other ways that I would like to ask you if you would write your name in my Birthday Book. I have asked Mr French,

Probably Charles French Snr, who until transferring to the Department of Agriculture as Government Entomologist a few months earlier had been M's senior assistant in the herbarium.
who has it, to send it to you and will be honoured if you will inscribe your name in it
Hoping to send you more specimens soon, when I intend collecting more largely I am
Sir
Yours very truly
Eva. F. Bowkett
Wishing you many Happy New Years.
