In reply to your letter of yesterday, dear Mr Watson,
I must inform you, that it was Dr. Mueller of Yakandandah,
who urged the strychnia treatment in snakebite-cases, altho' some experiments in
this direction had been made before in India. At the Medical Congress here in Jan.
last I supported his views, also in direct communications with him.
He has rendered purchasable a small injection-apparatus; but it would be best for
you to write direct to him at Yakandandah about your requirements.

Letters not found. M's comments on this subject at the Intercolonial Medical Congress
in January 1889 were not included in the published version of his address (B89.13.16),
but a brief supporting statement is included in the report of his address in the Leader
(Melbourne), 19 January 1889, p. 5; see also M to E. Regel, 29 May 1889. Augustus Mueller’s use of strychnine was controversial, especially in the medical
press; see Campbell (1968).

M's letter is attached to a letter from A. Mueller, Yakandandah, to R. Watson, 19
October 1889.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller.
