With regard to the specimens of Papuan flora mentioned in Thursday's Courier as having been collected by the Administrator of British New Guinea during his recent exploring expedition into the interior of the possession we are informed by Sir Wm. Macgregor's acting private secretary (Mr. H. S. Dutton) that another letter has been received from Baron Von Mueller on the subject, concerning which the eminent botanist expresses himself as follows:—.
Your Alpine plants are multifariously interesting, as connecting in some varied aspects the vegetation of the highlands of the northern and southern hemispheres in the eastern part of the globe. I have promised the Royal Society here to give the details of my examination in an essay to be read at a meeting to be held about the middle of September.
