MS annotation: 'From Baron Von Mu[eller]'.
Feel much indebted to you, dear Mr Turner, for your kind sending of the printed notes,
lately issued by you on utilitarian plants.
I shall be able, to quote some data from them for the 8th edition of the "Select
plants" under your name

Printed notes not identified. Turner was a regular lecturer to the Horticultural Society
of NSW, with the texts of his lectures printed in the Australian town and country journal (Sydney) (for example F. Turner (1886), F. Turner (1888)), and it is possible that
M received a collection of cuttings of such articles.

Will you be also so kind, to give me notes on such tropical or subtropical plants,
as come into fruiting so far south as about Sydney Thus, for instance, I do not even
know, whether the Mango does merely
live
out of door at Sydney, or whether it actually comes there to
bear
perfect fruit. So I am also in the dark about the Banana even. If these and other
kinds of plants do
not
come to perfection at your city, how
far south
do
they
bear
in N.S.W.
Regardfully
your
Ferd. von Mueller.
Have you in your pond any Australian Nymphaeas fruiting? An Italian Professor
has just written for ripe fruits of them.
