MS is a file note. On 1 February 1889 David Scott, Mayor of Launceston, Tas., wrote
to the Chief Secretary, Melbourne, asking for a 'list of the Botanical Specimens in
the Botanical Gardens Melbourne' for the use of Launceston's gardener. The Under Secretary,
T. Wilson, referred the letter to M 'for report. I am not very clear as to what it
is the writer is asking for.' Scott's request was also referred to W. Guilfoyle, Curator,
Botanic Gardens Melbourne (N89/2159, unit 407, VPRS 3992/P, Public Record Office,
Victoria). The present note is M's reply to Wilson.
