Alfr. Deakin Esqr, M.L.A.,
Chief Secretary.
Sir.
I have the honor to solicit, that permission may be given for the issue at the Gov.
Printing Office of the fourth supplement to the Census of Australian plants. Altho'
it will comprise the results of the years 1886, 1887 and 1888, it will be little larger
than the third supplement, the knowledge of our vegetation having become gradually
almost exhaustive. Thus the whole printing, for which I solicit, will be only a few
pages.

B89.05.03. Deakin approved M's request on 23 January 1889 and M acknowledged the news
'with best thanks' on 26 January. A copy of the third supplement, amounting to four pages and a title page, accompanies M's letter
in the file. The new supplement amounted to six pages and a title page.
I have the honor to be,
Sir, your obed. servant
Ferd. von Mueller,
Governm. Botanist
