T. R. Wilson Esqr,
Undersecretary
Sir
I have the honor to inform you, that by last mail I had an offer from Boston, Massachusetts,
of a collection of 900 Mexican plants for our botanic Museum, if the same number of Austral. plants be sent.
May I therefore ask, whether I could obtain a copy back of the two sets of plants
"Educational Collections", to help me making up the number of specimens requisite.
In the event of your approving of this application, I would send a messenger to fetch
the two parcels from the Cellars of the Gov. Offices, at any time, you may appoint.

The offer was probably from G. G. Pringle, there being specimens with his ‘Plantae Mexicanae’ exsiccata label at MEL;
for example, Solidago canadensis, MEL 2415329.

On 14 January 1880, Wilson suggested: 'I think the better plan will be for the Government Botanist to
send for all the copies now in this Office as they can more easily be distributed
as approved of by the Government from his Office'.
I have the honor to be,
Sir, your obedient
Ferd von Mueller.
