Heute, geehrter Herr Professor, geht ein Packet getrockneter Pflanzen an Sie ab. Es ist auch Einiges dabei für die Museum-Abtheilung, welche unter Obhut Ihres hochberuhmten Collegen Hr Regierungs Rath Cohn steht. Die Schickung ist durch die Agentur des Mr Tate hier, u sollte Ihnen das Ganze frei zukommen.

Ich hoffe, dass Sie unter den Monopetalen (oder Sympetalen) anerkennen werden! Es wäre doch das schönste botanische Denkmal für DC, pater, filius & nepos. Vom Fortbestehen der unter den Dilleniaceen kann keine Rede sein.

Als Deutscher bin ich stolz auf meine Wahl zum Präsidenten der austral Association for the advancement of Science für 1889. Es mag wohl manche Decade ins Meer der Vergangenheit fliessen, ehe diese höchste wissenschaftl. Ehre in Australien wieder einem Landsmann von uns zufällt.

As a German I am proud of my election as president of the Austral. Association for the Advancement of Science for 1889.

M presided over the second Congress of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science, held in Melbourne on 7-14 January 1890.

Many decades will probably flow into the sea of the past before this highest scientific honour in Australia is awarded again to a fellowcountryman of ours.
