Letter not found. The text given here (B88.10.02) is included in a report of the meeting of the Victorian Engineers' Association
held on 10 October 1888, in The Victorian engineer, vol. 3, no. 4, 15 October 1888, p.6.
It is very pleasing to me dear Mr. Sherrard, that the Victorian Engineers' Association
will give its powerful support to the Australasian Association for the advancement
of science at the Melbourne meeting,
and I beg to add that for the formation of the local Council arrangements will preliminarily
be made next week, when the Melbourne delegates who went to Sydney will come together
for the first time, and when your letter will be placed at once before them.

M's letter appears immediately following a report by the Association's delegates to
the first congress of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science,
held in Sydney in September 1888. In their report, the delegates noted, among other
things, that M had been designated as President of the second congress, which was
to be held in Melbourne.
Regardfully yours,
Ferd. von Mueller.
