Mr. President.
I hasten to inform you that I have received your gracious letter in which you have
let me know that in accordance with your proposal, the Royal Geographical Society

mark of esteem coming from such a distance has sensibly touched me. I accept, with
gratitude, the title which you and your colleagues have been good enough to confer
upon me.
Accept, Mr. President, the assurance of my most distinguished and devoted sentiments.
