Wenn Sie während der nächsten Monate nicht viel von mir schriftlich oder durch Sendungen sehen werden, edler Freund, so müssen Sie bedenken, dass hier am 1 Aug die Welt-Ausstellung zur Feier des 100 jährigen Bestehens australischer Colonisation beginnen wird. Als Commissar, Juror u professioneller Chef eines Departements giebt es so vielerlei zu thun bei einem solchen grossen und lang-dauernden Ereigniss, dass Viel Anderes in Verschiebung zurück kommen muss. Indess werde ich Ihrer stets doch eingedenk bleiben!
1889 soll der Census in einer erneueten Ausgabe erscheinen. Könnten Sie von Ihrer werthvollen Zeit dann u wann eine Stunde widmen für eine Durchmusterung der Original Ausgabe? Vielleicht wird Hr Maximowicz dasselbe gütig thun, u einige Winke auch geben, wie Sie, besonders nach Erfahrungen an Asiatischen Pflanzen[.] Selbstverständlich können wir kein wirklich natürliches System haben, solange als wir die Monochlamydeen oder Apetaleae als einen chaotischen Complex gesondert halten. If you do not hear much from me during the coming months by way of letters or consignments, noble friend, you will have to remember, that the International Exhibition in celebration of the Centenary of the beginnings of Australian colonization is to commence on 1 August. As Commissioner, juror and professional head of a Department there is so much to do during such an important and long drawn-out event, that much other work has to be deferred. I will, however, continue to think of you!
