[A letter was read from Baron F. von Mueller accompanying a copy of a monograph by Dr. Bernardo Schiavuzzi, entitled “Untersuchungen über Bacteria.”

Ferdinand Cohn's Beiträge zur Biologie der Pflanzen published a series of papers by various authors with the main title 'Untersuchungen über Bacteria'. Schiavuzzi (1890) is number 12 in the series and is the only article by him found in the journal up to vol 5 which was published in parts from 1887 to 1892. His article contains data collected up to mid-November 1886. The journal was published at irregular intervals, the previous part of the volume having been published in 1887. It is probable that authors had prints for distribution before formal publication of the part in which their article appeared.
