Bei der Beendigung des Key, geehrter Herr Tepper, habe ich, während die Goodeniaceen
durch die Presse gehen, auch noch ein paar fragliche Arten kritisch nach meinem nun
weit-reichenden Material studirt, und bin so auch zu der Pflanze gekommen, welche
Sie mir vor Jahren als Goodenia 278 sandten. Ich habe diese Pflanze auch von Prof
Tate, u in der That dieselbe Art in Frucht 1848 am Murray Flusse u 1851 am Flinders
Range selbst gesammelt. Bentham hat sie eingeschlossen unter die Formen von G. pinnatifida;
aber obgleich ich ein paar Mittelformen habe, die
Bastarde
sein mögen, halte ich sie doch für eine selbstständige Species, u habe sie nun in
den Key unter dem vor vielen Jahren gegebenen Namen G. pusilliflora aufgenommen. Das
Indusium ist merkwürdig, u erinnert etwas an
. Ich machte darüber vor 10 Jahren ein Notiz am Lachlan River, u Prof Tate hat auch
eine Bemerkung auf seinem Zettel darüber geliefert. Ich habe das kleine aber niedliche
Gewächs nun von 8 Sammlern; ich selbst nur habe die Notiz, dass es auf halbsalzigem
Boden vorkommen. Stimmt das mit Ihren Beobachtungen auf York's peninsula überein?
Ich könnte die Beschreibung,
welche fertig
ist, Ihrer Royal Society vorlegen, falls Gelegenheit für baldige Veröffentlichung
da ist; sonst kann die Description hier im Vict. Naturalist gedruckt werden.
Morgen muss ich zu
vier
Meetings für die Centennial Exhib. gehen, alles an einem Tage,
das
giebt Ihnen eine Idee wie bedrängt ich eben

With the finish of the Key,
esteemed Mr Tepper, whilst the
are going through the press I also have critically studied with my now extensive
material another couple of doubtful species and so have also come to the plant that
you sent me years ago as Goodenia 278. I have this plant also from Professor Tate and in fact collected the same species
in fruit myself in 1848 on the Murray River and in 1851 in the Flinders Ranges.
Bentham has included it among the forms of G. pinnatifida,
but although I have a couple of intermediate forms that may be
hybrids
, I do regard it as a separate species, and have now included it in the Key under
the name G. pusilliflora that was given many years ago.
The indusium is strange and recalls somewhat
. I made a note about it 10 years ago on the Lachlan River,
and Professor Tate has also provided a comment about it on his label. I have the
small, but pretty, plant now from eight collectors; I myself have only the note that
it occurs on half salty soil. Does that agree with your observations on Yorke Peninsula
?
I could submit the description,
which is ready
, to your Royal Society, if there is opportunity for rapid publication there, otherwise
the description can be printed here in the Victorian Naturalist.
