[The President read the following notes, and exhibited specimens of the Plants therein referred to, on behalf of Dr. Woolls: —
Jussiaea repens (Linn.) Baron Mueller has recently been engaged in investigating the Australian species of Jussiaea, and has come to the conclusion that our J. repens (Linn.), is not identical with the Indian species. He inclines rather to refer it to J. diffusa (Forskael), and as such he proposes to call it in his forthcoming "Key to the Dichotomous System,"

… but it demands further investigation to ascertain whether this refers to the Australian or the Indian plant. In order to settle the matter, the Baron is sending specimens of our plant to Dr. Schwainfurth,

now engaged in scientific pursuits at Cairo, to be compared with the plant growing in the Nile, which was collected there in 1763, and thus to determine whether our Jussiaea repens is to be referred to the African J. diffusa, or the Indian plant.

Woolls's note continued by appealing to members to collect specimens to help decide on the possible variation between northern and southern specimens. Notes on other plants were also read.
