Only a few lines, dear Mr Crawford, written long after midnight.
It needs not my assurance, that I shall gratefully accept the Kino of Euc. maculata, as I am forming a collection for the Exhibition. Also the sample of scented woods will be valuable. Pieces of wood of any kind , of which the name is ascertained beyond doubt, would be valuable, if the size of each kind was about that of a brick. By wrapping each up in rags, for slow drying on a cool place, splitting is avoided.
But I am afraid, that I shall get much into debt with you, beyond what I can offer through an occasional volume of mine. Perhaps however you have anyhow to be in the ranges now and then, and can get sometimes a small piece of wood without any direct expense.
Your notes on &c will be utilized under your name for the new edition, under preparation for the Exhibition.

Centennial International Exhibition, Melbourne, 1888-9. See B88.12.01, pp. 276-7: 'will not bear frost; the stems take root where they touch the ground; an acre has been calculated to yield 30 tons green feed in the rich valleys of the Macleay-River. Quite suitable for bouquets (A. R. Crawford).'
Regardfully
your
Ferd. von Mueller
