Let me acknowledge with best thanks, dear Prof. Liversidge, the receipt of the two
impressions of the XX. vol,
so carefully brought out under your auspices. What an amount of important research,
displayed in this volume, again, and what a grand series already!
1
Journal and Proceedings of the Royal Society of New South Wales, vol. 20, 1887.
I received the volumes only this evening from the Royal Society here, as pressure
of work prevented me from attending any of the meetings recently.
My only regret is, that I was unable to contribute largely to
such
a volume.
But my time all through 1887 was much extra taxed by the elaboration of the “Key
to the system of Vict. plants”
according to the difficult Lamarckian method. In a few months
that task
will be completed, when I shall likely have some more spare-hours for science-work,
altho’ the daily routine-engagements are always numerous, to which indeed the obligations
for the forthcoming Centenary Exhibition
will add very largely.
2
M did, however, contribute two papers to the volume, namely B87.13.02 and B87.13.03.
3
B88.13.03.
4
Centennial Exhibition, Melbourne, 1888-9.
With regardful remembrance
Your
Ferd. von Mueller.
Pray remember me to the excellent Dr. Leibius.
