i.e. at the Centennial International Exhibition, Melbourne, 1888-9. In a file note dated 30 January 1888, H. Moors, writing for the Under Secretary, asked M 'to be good enough to sign and return to this Office the accompanying application for a Special Advance of £80'. M replied in a further file note the next day: 'Application form signed as directed, and returned with best thanks'. Moors then forwarded the form to the Treasurer with an explanatory cover note, adding: 'I beg to state that provision to make this expenditure will be made on the Estimates for this Department for the ensuing financial year'.
